'Performance at the Limit - Business Lessons from Formula 1 Motor Racing'

Richard West, Professor Mark Jenkins and Ken Pasternak

South Asian Edition – Scheduled for print April 2011 - full details at foot of page

The second edition of 'Performance at the Limit - Business Lessons from Formula 1 Motor Racing' published in April 2009. Since the release of the first edition in July 2005 the authors have continued their research into the areas of synergy between the World's most technically demanding sport and business today and have transferred these learnings to many clients on a global basis.

In May 2008 West, Jenkins and Pasternak attended the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona courtest of accreditation supplied by Formula 1 ring master Bernie Ecclestone to conduct a number of key interviews with leading individuals within the sport. During this visit they added such influential names to their interview list such as BBC TV presenter and former F1 driver Martin Brundle, Honda F1's Team Principal Ross Brawn, drivers Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing, Heiki Kovalainnen of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and Stefano Domenicali of the Ferrari team to name but a few. They had previously interviewed 24 of the industries leading figures for the first edition including including three times World Drivers' Champion Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Frank Williams OBE of The WilliamsF1 Team and Jean Todt, CEO of Ferrari.

In total the latest edition now carries over 40 interviews including an in depth range of comments from banking giant ING's Isabelle Conner as to the benefits they have received from being a major sponsor of the RenaultF1 Team and how they use their involvement to benefit staff, customers and awareness and profitability.

With new lessons gained from these interviews, 'PATL - the second edition' now carries 'The Twelve Lessons' aimed at giving concise insights into the business world of Formula 1 and a range of thought provoking ideas aimed at assisting businesses today.

The authors continue to provide thought provoking comments, keynote addresses and training seminars utilising the high performance and rapidly changing world of Formula 1 as their centre piece.

The first edition of 'PATL' served as the inspiration for the highly acclaimed BBC World eight part series 'Formula for Success' in which co-author Richard West acted as co-presenter.

With accurate insights, great anecdotes and first-class analysis, Performance at the Limit articulates perfectly the split-second gap between also-ran, good and great. It’s all about leadership, preparation and amazing teamwork; without it you will simply fail to compete as those who have remained in pole position accepted long ago that “good enough” is no longer good enough. So if you want to learn what it takes to get to the top and how to win, then this is the book for you’

René Carayol, CEO, Inspired Leaders Network.
